Project CARE: Preparing ELLs for Future Success
English language learners (ELLs) face significant obstacles in realizing their full potential academically and professionally in the years following high school. This innovative project takes a comprehensive approach in developing some of the supports that can make a significant difference in the future success of an ELL high school student, including classroom instruction, parent engagement, and opportunities to learn more about the college experience. Keys to Success #1: Targeted Classroom Instruction
This section highlights strategies targeted to older ELLs' language and literacy needs, along with ideas for how teachers can begin to introduce them in the classroom. These strategies include sheltered instruction methods such as the use of language and content objectives and the use of resources in students' home languages.

A third component of Project CARE is to provide personal supports to students that increase their familiarity with the college application process and experience, such as campus site visits.
