Next Generation Science Standards: Appendix D

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are K-12 science standards developed through a collaborative, state-led process and arranged in a coherent manner across disciplines and grades to provide all students an internationally benchmarked science education. Appendix D focuses on the implementation of the standards with diverse student populations, including ELLs, students with disabilities, low-income students, students from major racial/ethnic groups, students in alternative education programs, gifted and talented students, and girls. The document outlines considerations and ideas for engaging each student group with the NGSS, which are then discussed in depth in the related NGSS case studies.
