Kwanzaa is Kayla’s favorite time of year. But this year, it looks as if a heavy snowstorm will keep her big brother, Khari, from getting home in time for the festivities! Will Khari miss the celebration completely?

Art and lyrical language weave together a history of African Americans from the time when they were taken from their homeland to the Black Lives Matter movement. The history is intertwined with principles of Kwanzaa which was first celebrated in 1966.

These origami wreaths are assembled from a number of paper sheets that are folded and then cleverly slotted together. The ring itself is held together by the tension of the individual paper pieces using the techniques of modular origami.
